A new solution to the “audio on my blog” problem. (update)

    Alright, here’s my blog here:

    http://voyagesofvanguard.wordpress.com/

We came from blogspot, or blogger or whatever it’s called. I need to be able to add a player to my sidebar, but the only one that is supported by WP is Odeo, which is so cruddy and barely works. Also, they make you jump through hoops for a barely workable player. It’s no wonder not many people use them for original content.

But I decided to place the audio in each post, individually. Using this code :

[audio http://this is where your file goes.mp3]

I was able to have the lil’ flash player at the top of my posts. In hindsight, this might actually work as well as a player on the sidebar, but it would still be nicer to have the sidebar player.
Basically you make your post, add that code with the proper address in it, and you have the player. Being that I wanted people to still go to http://www.virginworlds.com still to see the the other podcasts, I placed a link for “show notes”, which basically leads people to my page over there.
This seems like it might work wonderfully.
If you go to my blog you will notice I also have some videos that pop up very easily. That is the Vodpod video widget. I already had plenty of videos hosted elsewhere, so I signed up for Vodpod and it allows you to just enter the embed code for your collection.
In the widget you choose which style you want, and there ya go. Would be very handy for video podcasts, which is kind of what I do with my short videos shot from Vanguard.
Anyway, I think I am getting it covered. Still no description for the widgets, and no sidebar player, but other than that it looks good.

The standard WP.com audio player that you’re using doesn’t work in the sidebar.
