A one click button for reverting to default state of theme

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi There!

I was wondering isn’t there an option for the user to reset the chosen theme to default using one click? Instead of removing pages, posts, etc individually?

Or this option can be present in sync with removing other parts of the theme individually?

Clicking once and reverting back to the default state of the chosen theme would be much more convenient don’t you think instead of posting about it and then waiting in queue to get it done.

    Just my two cents.

    Thanks!
    Sam

The answer is no. There is no one click button for theme reset.

P.S. Staff review all threads in this forum and will contact you at the email address entered here https://wordpress.com/me/account if they choose to crate a one click theme reset ink.

Are you aware of the preview function that s in the theme customiser?

You can preview changes in the Customizer by selecting any of the options and making tweaks to the current settings. When you’re done with an option, clicking on the left arrow near the top will bring you back to the main Customizer panel. https://en.support.wordpress.com/customizer/

I’d personally vote no on giving such a reset tool to users because it’s like entirely deleting the site. All the content of the site would be deleted with no way of restoring it.

thanks for the response team. Much appreciated!!

@justjennifer, I agree it could have adverse effects but for beginners like me reverting to original theme is very difficult and almost a steep learning curve for me.

Hello again, That’s why I advocate contacting Staff to request it. :) Resetting a theme should be an option of last resort.

Rather than resetting a theme with the above stated consequences, first check out your theme’s showcase page https://wordpress.com/themes/ for set up guidance and if you get stuck, post in the forums and/or ask for Staff assistance if you have a paid upgrade. That’s what we’re here for. :)
