A Phone Call with a Word Press Staff Member

Dear WordPress Community:
I’m wondering if someone could help me out by speaking with me over the phone for about five minutes. I have several quick questions which could be answered very easily. I have a blog on WordPress for my own diary, and have decided to create a second to remain completely anonymous and to start anew. I’m a bit confused because I thought that WordPress was a free service, and it’s a bit of a maze to understand how to set up a quick and easy blog. I also wanted just a basic blank canvas with simple black text to be my blog design, which is what I had last time: and that doesn’t seem to be something I can find quickly. The other thing is: which may not be something that a WordPress rep can answer: but I’d like to have my writing stored on a site which will be kept for perpetuity online. I want to write in a space which will likely remain available to be read by others, even if I am not paying an annual fee. Is it possible to speak with someone who works at the WordPress company?

Why not build a free site with a .wordpress.com subdomain then.
