A ‘Please click here’
-
Hi
I know PB is not supported by word press, but is there such a link where you can write ‘Click here’ and if you hover the mouse over it, it lights up and you click it and it immediately takes you to say a PB (Or another site)?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
I don’t know what a PB is, but you can just make a regular link to any page on the web.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/topic/links/
Incidentally, here’s why you should never use “Click Here”:
-
-
Sure, you can use Photobucket code. You just can’t use Photobucket video or slideshow code without using it through the Vodpod button. I have lots of images on my blog from photobucket.
-
I dont really understand what css problem is right now…I shall have to re read that.
Well I have done a slide on PB and its brilliant, so I have done an alternative but its not as good as the real thing on Photobucket :(
I am trying to get a site that will show the effects of it, but right now thats awkward
I cant work Vodpod either right now, I dont understand it……so are you saying with Vodpod, you can upload my photobucket slide on to it THEN transfer it to My Word Press blog, and the effect will still be there??
So if I use the code….will have a load of html codes there? That will look untidy wont it??
-
I have just checked the other link ….but its ‘gone over ‘ my head abit, which one do I need to look for??
-
Yes. When you use the Vodpod button it hosts your slideshow or video there, and sort of puts a window to it on your WP.com blog. It’s not actually hosted here, but you can see the video from here.
It looks perfectly fine. You can see a vodpod embedded video on my blog here:
It’s the first video. Just go to vodpod.com and look for the Vodpod button. It’s easy to use. You sign an account up and then paste the embed code from Photobucket or whatever into Vodpod and it gives you a sspecial code to paste into your Wp.com blog.
It’s nothing to do with CSS at all.

Ok been to Vodpod, but I have NOT got a clue where to start :(
When I said other link, I mean which link for photo bucket do i use for my site? It wont be just a jumble of words on my board will it :(
-
Hiya Raincoaster – ok think I have cracked it now :D!
Not sure which link will work, so done both – its on the first link, but dont know if it will work…er….is this ok…..as IF I remove the writing underneath, will the slide disappear? Darent try it hahahaha! Also is it normal for the preview to appear at the side please?

You can just go ahead and delete that text. It’s not essential to the video. Looks good!
-
Thankyou SO much! :D I am SO proud of myself, and one of my friends has said how jealous of me she is! Hahahaha!
New look now, with out the text ;)

Thankyou SO much also for your kind comments, yes it does….it says its from PB so thats fine and nothing else, exactly how I wanted it to look :D
LOL I darent look now incase I spot a mistake! Hahahaha!
If i have any more queries on Vod pod, I know where to come or where you are ! ;) (Not sure I actually posted the video the right way or not, but hey its there! )
Thankyou once again!
-
You’re welcome. You can use the same method to embed any video that normally can’t be put in a WP.com blog.
-
Thanks raincoaster, you have been a HUGE help, and I must take this opportunity also to tell you I have recieved some huge compliments over my work here, so once again thankyou :D
One more question (I have also searched this on search engines but still a little confused) is a website the same as a blog…..I am a little lost by this, and dont really know the difference….and although I like expressing my thoughts…I would much prefer a website where maybe I can include my thoughts ?
Thanks :D

@Sharon
A blog is a website and the terms can be used synonymously. However, we usually differentiate between stand alone personal and or business sites and refer to them as web sites, and we refer to blogs as “blogsites”. Blogs are set up for dialog with readers through comments and most websites aren’t. Blogs have RSS feeds but not all websites have RSS feeds. For better definitions please use search engines. Simply type in “define:website” and “define:blog” and you will find your answers.
define:website > results > http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&rlz=1B2GGGL_enCA205CA208&defl=en&q=define:website&ei=dGPYS-L2HcOblgfYyoyoBA&sa=X&oi=glossary_definition&ct=title&ved=0CAYQkAE
define:blog > results http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&rlz=1B2GGGL_enCA205CA208&q=define%3Ablog&btnG=Search
and although I like expressing my thoughts…I would much prefer a website where maybe I can include my thoughts ?
Sahron, people share thoughts on websites and on blogs. There really is no essential difference when it comes to sharing thoughts and nothing is preventing you from sharing your thoughts on your blog. In fact, blogs are set up with comment systems and with feeds to enable dialog about thoughts, ideas, information, etc.

Hi Timethief, thankyou for that, I apologise, this is still very new to me, both blogs (I hate that word LOL!) and websites…..so I dont really understand the diff…..I knew blogs were for expressing thoughts ie liek a diary, and websites were like for …showing of your work…
For instance, I have JUST found this site, after looking round : http://www.webs.com/
So is this like Word Press then, this site, as it appears to do websites….
