A plug-in to customize views
-
I found this plug-in https://wordpress.org/plugins/content-views-query-and-display-post-page/
That helps with what I need for the display of my content. I was hoping to have a grid page template but to display grids from categories instead of child pages.
I’m currently using the Sela theme (that changed from the Goran theme).
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
There is no FTP access and no blogger installed plugin capability on any free hosted WordPress.COM blogs and there is no upgrade you can purchase here that changes that reality.

http://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/If you want FTP access and to install plugins or third party themes into a site then you will have to hire a web host http://wordpress.org/hosting/ and set up your own WordPress.org install. WordPress.org offers free software that you can install on a web server. You can upload and install themes and plugins, run ads, conduct ecommerce and edit the database. Learn about the differences here. http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

As timethief mentioned, it’s not possible to install plugins here on WordPress.com. The grid template in Sela allows you to display child pages, but not categories. One workaround I can think of would be to create manual “landing” pages your featured categories, and then use the display posts shortcode to display the posts in that category.
For example, something like:
[display-posts category="my-cat1" posts_per_page="20"]Let me know if you have any questions about this approach.
