A problem with a suspended account

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi everyone.

    Please note: I have difficulties to speak in english, I hope you can understand.

    I’ll try to explain.

    WordPress staff have recently disabled my blog due to a violation of the terms of service (I’m very sorry for that).Then, after I agree to delete every conflictive post, the blog has been open again.

    The problem is that my wordpress account is disabled or something.I can’t access to my blog dashboard,add or edit entries, etc

    Please – What can I do?

    My blog: http://allgamesbeta.net

    Thank you very much for your attention.

    WP seems to have a habit of suspending 1st and asking questions afterward.
    Ours was suspended.
    ~~~~~~~
    WordPress.com
    This blog has been archived or suspended for a violation of our Terms of Service.
    http://wordpress.com/tos/
    ~~~~~~~~
    I followed the link to our Supposed “Violation” of the Terms of Service.
    I read and re-read 6 times. There was nothing we violated.

    After writing to http://support.wordpress.com/contact/

    I received a timely, corteous, reply and was told it was because of ads and paid content. (No paid content)
    ~~~~~~~~
    Hi,
    My apologies – a warning should have appeared instead.
    We do not allow ads or payperpost or any similar scheme.
    Could the ads and all paid content be removed please?
    Sorry for the suspension and delay.
    Mark
    WP’s TOS says NOTHING about Ads.
    I even had a Lawyer look at it and he agreed.
    Is this an arbitrary ruling by a few misguided employees?
    No, this is a longstanding policy. Search the forum to find hundreds or perhaps thousands of reiterations of this policy.
    And Matt has some pretty good lawyers.
  • Unknown's avatar
    TOS #2, 5th bullet (highlighted) doesn’t mention “ads” with that word, but anything that is designed to drive traffic to third-party sites is not allowed. Ads are designed just for that reason: Entice a visitor to click on a link which then takes them to a website where they can buy discount viagra or pink fuzzy bunny slippers, and you get a fraction of a cent.
    From the FAQ’s on adsense and other ads: http://faq.wordpress.com/2005/12/08/adsense/
    WP gave me the link to their TOS saying we violated it!!!!
    There is NO MENTION of ADS in WP’s TOS!!!!
    And what’s this BS about “And Matt has some pretty good lawyers.”
    IS this a Threat???
    I’m trying to follow the rules. And according to WP’s own rules we violated NOTHING!
    That’s why I had a legal type look it over in case I missed something.
    So far this is CENSORSHIP!!
    We Violated nothing as per WordPress’s own TOS (which they linked to).
    Then we’re told we violated WP’s TOS?????
    Is part of it written in disappearing ink?
    Please I have a bad heart, I don’t need to get riled up anymore.
    So only logical answers please.
    I want to get to the bottom of this.
    And I’m still awaiting reply from Mark about what is and isn’t allowed and where is it posted, so we have a guideline to follow before I go to the Hospital for my Heart Operation.
    Thanks in advance for help on this.
    Thank you thesacredpath for a sensible, informative answer.
    I saw your comment after I posted mine.
    From the TOS #2, 5th bullet (highlighted)
    http://en.wordpress.com/tos/
    the Content is not spam, is not machine- or randomly-generated, and does not contain unethical or unwanted commercial content designed to drive traffic to third party sites or boost the search engine rankings of third party sites, or to further unlawful acts (such as phishing) or mislead recipients as to the source of the material (such as spoofing);
    The above “content” appears to mean an article post not an ad.
    We’ve all seen them. Blog Infomercials.
    Types of Blogs
    examples of blogs that are banned from WordPress.com
    3rd bullet
    Affiliate marketing blogs: Blogs with the primary purpose of driving traffic to affiliate programs and get-rich-quick schemes (”Make six figures from home!!”, “20 easy steps to top profits!!”, etc). This includes multi-level marketing (MLM) blogs and pyramid schemes. To be clear, people writing their own original book, movie or game reviews and linking them to Amazon, or people linking to their own products on Etsy do NOT fall into this category.
    This is interesting!
    And I saved the best for last!
    Advertising
    http://support.wordpress.com/advertising/
    Adsense, Yahoo, Chitika, TextLinkAds and other ads are not permitted to be added by users. Please send us feedback if you’d like to put ads on your blog, as we are considering such a feature for a future upgrade.
    Maybe this is why WP is so ambiguous in their TOS?
    This is definitely an interesting possibility.
    Thank you for giving me useful info and links.
    Now I wish they (WP) had the foresight to spell out their policy on Ads in their TOS, so a person would be able to read what they meant in one spot. Or at least have a link for more info on ADs in their TOS.
    Let me see if I have this straight. You have money for a “legal type” but you’re using a free blog host? And shouting?
  • Unknown's avatar
    ellaella,
    Wake up!
    I didn’t say that!
    Please print out and re-read the entire thing.
    Then when you digested that, come back and go to the TOS link.
    Then if you have any questions I’ll be glad to answer.
    I’ve been here two years. I’ve read the ToS many times, including the links, and have referred people to them countless times.
    You wake up and contact support. There is nothing anyone in this forum can do for you and Mark has stated over and over he will not discuss this type of issue in the forum.
  • Unknown's avatar
    ellaella,
    If you read my comments you wouldn’t have written the following:
    You wake up and contact support. There is nothing anyone in this forum can do for you and Mark has stated over and over he will not discuss this type of issue in the forum.
    And if you thoroughly read WP’s TOS you would be readily agreeing with me and sending emails to WP.
    Our Blog was shut down, without warning, for about 7 hours until about 1 pm EST – our prime time. We lost over 65% of our readership!
    Remember: Stick up for your fellowman, because you may be next.
    Goodbye!
    I find this all quite amusing. Ads in your blog = no wordpress.com for you. Get it?
  • Unknown's avatar
    Apparently not, no matter how clearly or how often it’s stated. No wonder he’s so angry: the world must seem so random and abusive to him.
  • Unknown's avatar
    It would be nice if the TOS were a little clearer, but I expect the reason it is not is that it was written – or at least edited – by lawyers. To me this ads fit well into this,
    unwanted commercial content designed to drive traffic to third party sites
    Perhaps you should get a better lawyer if they didn’t point out these sections to you:
    “Without limiting any of those representations or warranties, Automattic has the right (though not the obligation) to, in Automattic’s sole discretion (i) refuse or remove any content that, in Automattic’s reasonable opinion, violates any Automattic policy or is in any way harmful or objectionable, or (ii) terminate or deny access to and use of the Website to any individual or entity for any reason, in Automattic’s sole discretion. Automattic will have no obligation to provide a refund of any amounts previously paid.”
    “10. Termination. Automattic may terminate your access to all or any part of the Website at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice, effective immediately. If you wish to terminate this Agreement or your WordPress.com account (if you have one), you may simply discontinue using the Website. Notwithstanding the foregoing, if you have a VIP Services account, such account can only be terminated by Automattic if you materially breach this Agreement and fail to cure such breach within thirty (30) days from Automattic’s notice to you thereof; provided that, Automattic can terminate the Website immediately as part of a general shut down of our service. All provisions of this Agreement which by their nature should survive termination shall survive termination, including, without limitation, ownership provisions, warranty disclaimers, indemnity and limitations of liability.”
