A published page has disappeared

I spent about 4 hours on Saturday writing a page to include in my blog. The page was published & I sent the link to others to see. They read it ok & came back to me yesterday with suggestions for amendments. The trouble is the Page has now disappeared. I get a 404 error when I try to load it (http://bristolsilents.wordpress.com/slapstick-festival/) & when I look in my dashboard under ‘Pages’ there’s no sign of it. I found a couple of suggestions in your forums but neither solved my problem. I know WordPress regularly saves any work so there must be a copy somewhere although it may not be a complete one. How do I access these? The last thing I want to do is spend another 4 hours doing the same thing again.
In future I think I’ll compose the majority of my posts offline with a text editor & keep a copy of everything. I’m new to WordPress having only used Tumblr before for my personal blog so I may be missing something obvious. Tumblr keeps things very simple & although WordPress is far more flexible it sacrifices a lot of ease of use for this extra flexibility.

Have you checked that you have not created it as a post rather than a page? click both “Pages” and “Posts” in your dashboard.

Thanks for the suggestion but it’s not under Posts either. I can definitely remember it appearing at the top alongside my other Pages too so I’m sure I posted it in the right place.

That is strange because it should have at least been autosaved. I was wiondering if you accidentally moved the page to trash, but I can’t see where you look for trashed items myself!

I’ve posts to the trash before & it stays in the same place as the other posts until you decide to completely & utterly remove it. I guess it’s the same for pages. So I can’t imagine it’s possible to accidentally remove something completely from the blog as you’d need to trash it twice & click on ‘confirm’. It’s a bit mysterious.
