A question about Business Plan

    Hello.

    I plan to migrate our online magazine to business plan from hosting service. I’d be glad if you let me know some pre-concerns below:

    1) We got around 2.8k articles, even if I understand there will be inconsistencies, my bigger concern is we want to keep our theme. That is one of those themes which use custom field in post formats, would that be a problem migrating?

    2) Jetpack does not seem to set it up itself healthy even I checked all plugins and changed theme to default one and followed all instruction. Can I use another tool to migrate?

    3) Our plan is first to set up the site on wordpress.com, migrate all posts/members/subscribers/custom post types to here, then change DNS. I already took XML export, but if ‘import ALL website’ option from Jetpack does not work, all those images, do they have to stay in the previous host forever? Or should I upload them manually once the posts will be set up?

    4) We got a few ‘guest’ or ‘multiple’ authors, can we migrate them?
    5) We got newsletter subscribers and we use ‘Mailster’, I understand we will not need it anymore but is it ok to migrate them?
    6) We got contributors, do they have to use a wordpress.com account to contribute?

    I guess that is it for now.

    Hi Baris,

    Once you have the Business Plan and add a theme or plugin, you’ll get access to SFTP and MySQL and what not, so if you prefer to migrate that way, you can.

    You can keep your theme and add your authors and what not. You MIGHT need to have them have WordPress.com accounts. I am not positive on that, but you’ll also have direct access to business plan chat-based support once you have the plan. They will know more.

    I’d recommend signing up now, if you’re willing, and opening a chat so the experts can go over any remaining questions with you. I am not positive of the feature overlap with Mailster, so I’d ask about that as well.

    And, we do offer a refund within 30 days if it’s not a good fit for you, but I believe it will be.
