A question about referrers (stats/traffic)

Hi, I just logged into my dashboard to check my stats today and on the list of referrers, it says “WordPress Dashboard”. What does this mean? It appears that someone has visited my blog via this referrer but I don’t understand as the dashboard is private isn’t it? Or is the WordPress Dashboard something different?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

No one aside from you has access to your dashboard except Staff or those you add as official users and assign roles that allow them to have access.

I did a forum search for you and what it means is someone was signed into WordPress.com like me and clicked into your blog from their dashboard. In addition to the dashboard home page with recent and top blogs, it reflects traffic from the my comments, blog surfer, tag surfer, and any clicks from people’s dashboard comments section to your blog.

Oh, I see. Problem solved. :) Thanks timethief.

You’re welcome and best wishes for happy blogging. :)

P.S. I can recommend a comprehensive tutorial. The Learn WordPress.com tutorial is divided into progressive levels and presented as a series: http://learn.wordpress.com/

I’ve also noticed that if my login on wp times out but I still have my dashboard open, if I click on a link and open one of my posts or pages (and I see from the lack of the grey navigation bar at the top of the page that I’m no longer logged in), then that click shows up in my stats as a referral from Dashboard.
