A question about space upgrade

A year ago, I bought a 10g space upgrade, of which I have used 7.5g, including the free 3g. So I have 5.5 left.
I received a notice to renew my space upgrade payment this month. Does this mean I have to pay $20 each year for just the one upgrade (like for no-ads), or can I wait until I have used the 5.5g remaining, and then buy another 10g? I looked at the support links but … please clarify. Thanks!

Thank you. I read your link earlier, and sorry, but I’m afraid I still don’t understand how it works. What then happens when I later on buy some more upgrade? Do I keep renewing for the first 10g after it has been used up? As well as buying a further 10 or 25g? Thanks for your patience.

If you use up your additional 10 gb, then you’ll want to buy more if you want to keep adding content to your library. So then you’ll buy the 20 gb upgrade, and pay for that each year.
You pay each year for the space you use beyond the free 3 gb.

But I shan’t use up the rest of the 10gb until probably the spring. Does renewing on the 23 October this month, add another 10gb to it? Is that what you mean? I already paid for the 10gb last October 23, and it would make sense to buy more at the time when I need it, for the increasing content in my library. Sorry if I’m being a bit thick … I do want to get this right.

No.
If you don’t renew on 23 Oct. then you won’t be able to add anymore to your media library. You will be renewing the same extra 10 gb on that date. -
Hi. I shall renew on the 23rd anyway, because I am more and more confused by what you say! I am so sorry.
Perhaps a better way to word it is: When I renew on the 23rd, will I get another 10gb, or will it stay the same.
Oh, I think I’ve got it. If I don’t renew, then I will suddenly find I have no space left. Is that it? And when I renew, I get a new 10gb upgrade for the coming year, whether or not there is any left from the previous one, and whether or not I use it all?

You will be paying for the 10gb you have now. It’s like renting: you don’t own that upgrade: you pay the rent or you don’t get to keep using the extra storage space. It’s 10gb whether you use it all or not.
