A question about updates
-
I don’t know how to check for WordPress updates. These updates are important to stop my website from being hacked and I think this is the most important question.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
It is an important question to those who have a wordpress.ORG software installs on paid hosting. Here at wordpress.COM we don’t have to worry. Read: Backups https://en.support.wordpress.com/export/#backups
The wordpress version is not relevant here at WordPress.COM. It’s only relevant to those who have WordPress.ORG software installs and we do not provide support for them at wordpress.COM.
The version of WordPress software every wordpress.COM site runs on is the most recent one. Here, at wordpress.COM our Staff do all version upgrades for us users, and they are done 1 month before they are released to wordpress.ORG users.

re: hacked accounts and blogs
Make sure you follow all security measures. If your account or site gets hacked then it’s most likely that you have provided hackers with the ability to do so, either deliberately by adding them as official users, or by allowing them access to your login information, or by posting content that makes it easy for them to guess what your log-in information is.
1. Check your email program and if required change the password to a very difficult one because that’s how many hackers gain access to blogs.
2. If required your blog password to a very difficult one https://en.support.wordpress.com/selecting-a-strong-password/ > http://en.support.wordpress.com/passwords/#change-your-password
You can also reset your password via your Settings tab on the WordPress.com home page:
http://wordpress.com/#!/settings/3. Read > http://en.support.wordpress.com/security/
- Use a secure, encrypted connection to connect to your Dashboard. Under Users → Personal Settings, check the box that says “Always use HTTPS when visiting administration pages, and click Save Changes.
- Use two step authentication http://en.support.wordpress.com/security/two-step-authentication/
4. The recommendation is for one Admin per site with good reason. Nothing related to site-administration is off-limits for Administrators, including deleting the entire site. This is why we recommend having only one administrator per blog. https://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator
5. Be cautions about what you download and download only from trusted sources. Also run regulare security scans on your computer. See here to run a security scan http://geekflare.com/online-scan-website-security-vulnerabilities/
6. Never leave your computer logged into your blog and walk away from it. Always log out properly.
