A Record Domain Pointing 'Invalid Name'
-
Hello,
I have purchased some GoDaddy hosting and I’m trying to point my domain to GoDaddy. However, if I add the domain without the ‘www’ (which is how it is setup in WordPress) I get the ‘Invalid Name’ message and so cannot point the domain.
Can anyone please help?
Thank you.

Looks like this is something only staff will be able to help out with; modlook added to tags for this reason. If someone can please check? Thank you.

Hi, are you using these steps? You’ll want to use the link mentioned in step 5, too:

If it’s still being fussy after that, let us know.

Also, if you’d like us to try it on this end, let us know what IP you’re trying to point to.

Pointing to 160.153.136.1 please. I’ve tried all those steps this end but received an ‘invalid name’ message at WordPress. If you could take a look and let me know how you get on? Thanks.

Thanks, we’ve duplicated this and will be working on a fix. We can add the record from our end, though. Which domain did you intend to point to GoDaddy?

Thanks. That’s done, @bulletproofbear . Give it a few hours to take full effect.
Right now the other domain now redirects to bullet-proofbear.com too. If you want to make the other domain primary so that it shows the contents of your WordPress.com hosted site instead of redirecting to the current primary domain, you can do that here:

Apologies supernovia – can you please add the point again – removed it by mistake. Thanks very much for all your help.
