A script is causing Internet Explorer to run slowly
-
I have also encountered the “slow IE script” warning when I try to log onto WordPress.com, or enter my blog. When I shut down IE and then bring up some other site such as Google, I see no “slow IE script” warning. This is not a problem specific to some client. I think there is a problem in the WordPress.com servers. Perhaps we have to wait for Stinson Beach to wake up?

I sent the message. Do be sure to leave your VERSION of IE when you post here. It might be important
And perform the Cookie Dance: Log out, clear browser cache and cookies, restart the computer, and try to reload the page that was causing the problem. Report back if that works.

A fellow-blogger complains of this problem in her blog today (http://oldageisabitch.blogspot.com/) and asks whether anything can be done at our (WordPress) end.

Each time I logged in today this IE error popped up. I was wondering if I was the only one getting it… till I saw this thread. Hopefully, wordpress would fix it soon.

Yup, just writing to say that it is happening for me as well. I post a comment (or click on a page somewhere on a blog) and the script error comes up. I click yes then it takes some time. Then when I go to close the page the same script message comes up, I click yes and then it finally closes the window..
-
The same thing is happening with me.
“Stop running this script?
A script on this page is causing Internet Explorer to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive.”This is on both of my computers. It just started today.
I will check back for possible solutions. -
I’m glad I started this post – I thought it was something I had done my end as I am a “new” blogger. For info my version of IE is 6.

I’ve got this issues. But, this solution might calm you down for a while…
Its a little trick to remove this error…
—————————————–1. Using a Registry Editor such as Regedt32.exe, open this key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftInternetExplorerStylesNote If the Styles key is not present, create a new key that is called Styles.
2. Create a new DWORD value called “MaxScriptStatements” under this key and set the value to the desired number of script statements.
By default the key doesn’t exist. If the key has not been added, Internet Explorer 4 defaults to 5,000,000 statements executed as the trigger for the time-out dialog box.Because the Internet Explorer 4.0, 5.0, 6, and 7 time-out is based on the number of script statements executed, the time-out dialog box will not display during ActiveX control or database-access delays. Endless loops in script will still be detected.

I hope this is temporary. I prefer not to mess with my computer for script errors. I use IE 7 and have been getting the script message on my photoblog, other blogs, and WP tag pages… all WordPress.com and no where else. This is happening this morning and for the first time. So, I’ll wait this strangeness out and not fiddle with my computer as it is not my computer or internet problem.

I’m having this problem too, from the time I go to the “log in” page, at all my wordpress pages. At first I thought it was because I’d made some new links yesterday on my site, and I took out all those links, but the problem is still there.
I guess I’ll just go away from wordpress for a few hours and hopefully it will be fixed soon.
Good to know it’s not just me. -
I’m using IE 7. This is when it happens to me:
Whenever I try to log in or log out
Whenever I try to post a comment
Whenever I go to someone else’s wordpress blog and try to return to mineIf I go to a blog or site that’s not a wordpress site I have no problem returning to mine, so it’s obviously a wordpress server issue. It’s not causing a great problem, after I click on yes it loads OK, but it’s frustrating.
Any word from wordpress yet?

Just wanted to chime in that I just encountered this as well.
opened up wp dot com in my browser – all was well
tried singing on and it took my sign on info – bar started filling up as if it was loading my page and got the “a script is causing IE to run slowly” message. I had to abort the script to be able to get into my dashboard.
No biggie as aborting the script didn’t seem to cause me to lose any data or abilities, and this is the first time I’ve ever seen this.

When I go to other wp blogs the message appears when I click on a comment or another page (and when I try to return to my blog). On my own blog I only get the script message when I login or logout and when I’m trying to post a comment. I haven’t tried a new post since this problem started but I guess it would be the same there too.
