a second (and third) grievance
-
I’m sure there are many wonderful new features to the new block editor… but is there a way to allow those of us who were familiar with and content with the old editor to still use it instead?? The editing bar for each block covers up material that I like to frequently go back and read as I’m writing. That’s distracting and frustrating. Furthermore, old shortcuts (like ‘command U’ for underlining) don’t work. You have to go through several clicks just to add an underline. That’s frustrating, too. If it’s not possible for us to revert to the old editor, are you able to change these so that the edit bar doesn’t cover up material… and shortcuts (and text colors) are more user friendly? Thanks for considering!

Hi,
You can try to access the Classic editor using this link.
https://wordpress.com/support/editors/#classic-editor
There is also a Classic block that is similar to the Classic editor.

The classic editor is being retired.
Here is information about how to use blocks.

Using blocks with a little practice you may find is not as difficult as it might seem.
I have asked for a Staff member to look at this so they can let you know if there is anything you can do about the frustrations you are experiencing.

Thanks so much!! That helps a lot, actually. I’m relieved to read that I can pin the toolbar to the top of the page… and glad to learn how we can at least use the Classic block. I’m admittedly not thrilled about the learning curve at the moment… but ’tis life. Thanks a bunch for your help!
