A Sticky Post Option

I know this question has been asked many times and it was never a problem for me, so I didn’t request this option.

However, I have encountered a situation where I would like to have a post “stickied” for a short time, without having to change the time stamp every time I add a new blog entry.

It’s not a matter of establishing a permanent home page – it is more in tune with publicizing a current event that needed prominence for a short period of time.

Hopefully, the WordPress staff will consider this to be an option in the future.

    Thanks for listening.

    Stay tuned ;)

as of now, I think your options would be either change the time stamp – annoying, yes – or attract attention to this post/page in textwidget in sidebar.

Merci Mark. I will look forward to this option. Thanks for your speedy reply and “heads up”!

I’m fairly new to all this stuff. What I’m wanting to do right now is create a new category for a collection of things I’m creating, and I’d like for there to be one short summary post at the top of that page that is sticky, with all new posts falling beneath that summary. I can’t do it with the “Text” widget as that seems to be for the entire blog, and I’m wanting something specific to the one category.

It appears that I’m outta luck from what I can tell. I would like to make a request for either a sticky per page or category, or a text widget that would be per page or category.

I hope I’m being clear and if anyone has a suggestion, I’m up for it.

For the moment, what you can do is write a page beginning with the summary and continuing with a list of links to those posts. Or you can write the whole as one post divided into several pages with the page break tag.

On the sticky post option for all the different page types, I would not hold my breath. We will consider ourselves fortunate to get it for the main post pages.
