A Stupid Question about Text & Code

    Please enlighten me …
Whenever I go to edit my posts/pages … it throws it all into one long paragraph & ignors the paragraph breaks. I have been using
the ‘spam’ markup … not the ‘break’ markup … or the ‘paragraph’ markup.

What is best to use to hold my edits the way they are suppose to be and not continually have to reset paragraphs?

Appreciate you time and answers. Thank you in advance.
    C.L.

The blog linked to your username is not a wordpress.com blog. We offer support only to those with wordpress.com blogs. If you have one then please post the url.

If you have downloaded software from wordpress.org then please go to the correct forum http://wordpress.org/support.

    My mistake …

I thought we could put any link there. I will change it to my wordpress.com blog.

Didn’t mean to double post either … I went to edit and did not do that right either!

    Thanks

I have been using the ‘spam’ markup … not the ‘break’ markup … or the ‘paragraph’ markup.

I think you mean “span” instead of “spam”.

The <span> tag is used to group inline-elements in a document. It is not for paragraph spacing per say. That’s what the paragraph tags are for. Example: <p>This is some text in a very short paragraph</p>

Setting that aside on this page -> Users -> Profile you can turn on the text rich editor and see if your problem disappears when you use it. http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/05/15/what-do-all-the-icons-mean/

Don’t know what the *spam* markup would be like. LOL :)

<spam> A special mark-up for insertion of advertising for viagra, sex peddlars and the like …. </spam>

P.S. No questions are stupid but some are funny. lol :)

Went to correct the … spam … to span & that is why I got a double posting.

At least it is all worth a chuckle … thanks for your help timethief …

I have exactly the same problem. My formatting has all vanished. When I try and add paragraph tags or <br> breaks, they disappear on saving and/or publishing. I never used to have this problem. I could just type in what I wanted, hit the return button and I would have a new paragraph.

I checked my user profile and ‘visual rich editor’ is enabled. Is this the same as RTF? Please help, my blog is practically unreadable!

Nevermind. I found the answer on another post. Untick ‘visual rich editor’. Yay. Thanks to all you guys who answer these questions anyway – you’re wonderful!

Thank you for saying that. :)
