A subscriber blocked

I wanted to add an email address to my site’s subscribers that I had previously mistakenly deleted, but it says “The subscriber is blocked.” How do I unblock it, or will it unblock itself?

When a subscriber is marked as “Blocked” on your site, it is usually a safety mechanism triggered because the email address was manually deleted or flagged as “Spam” in the past. WordPress.com does not have a “self-unblock” timer; instead, the system prevents you from re-adding that specific address to protect the recipient from potentially unwanted emails. To fix this, you cannot simply re-type the address into your subscriber list; the owner of that email address must personally go to your live website and use the Subscription Block or “Follow” button to sign up again. By manually entering their email and clicking “Subscribe,” they trigger a fresh confirmation email that overrides the previous block and restores their status in your dashboard.

When a subscriber is removed from your site, their email can become blocked from being re-added by the site owner. This is a built-in safeguard and won’t resolve on its own.
The good news is the subscriber can fix this themselves. The simplest option is for them to visit your site directly and use the Subscribe or Follow button to sign up again.
If that doesn’t work, they can unblock invite emails by following these steps:
- Go to https://subscribe.wordpress.com/ (they need to be logged out).
- Enter their email address and click “Request details.”
- They will receive an email with a link to their subscription details.
- Copy that link and add
&unsub_invites&option=cancelto the end of it. - Load the modified link; a confirmation message will appear.
After that, you should be able to add them again. Let us know if you run into any issues.

The mailbox that was deleted from “Subscribers” and that I can’t add again because it says “blocked” is the one I used to subscribe to WordPress. When I try to log out and log back into the blog and click “Follow” to subscribe, I don’t receive the confirmation email. What should I do?
