A subscriber to my blog did not subscribe!
-
I’m probably going to show myself up as a complete numpty, but I’ll take the risk. I got a message in the comments box today. I post it here verbatim:
“I received an e-mail advising me of this new post.
But, I’m sorry, I’ve never subscribed to this blog.
True, it is nice, and I like it, but I have no interest in subscription.
Will you please delete this involuntary and/or automatic subscription?
Thank you in advance.”The blog attached to this message is lududusnaturae.wordpress.com I’ve not put in the full URL here, unless you need it so it can be checked out, in which case, let me know and I will do so. I could give you the IP address if needed. The bit at the end reads dynamic.mundo-r.com I copied and pasted the blog address to a new browser window to find myself directed to WordPress telling me I could use this name for a new blog as the blog doesn’t exist. Before I did this, I was going to email the person directly, suggesting they use the unsubscribe button to remove themselves as I know I can’t do anything from my end, but I also think it’s strange because my understanding is you can’t be subscribed to something you didn’t ask for. Anyway, for the moment, I’ve moved it to my spam box.
After that long preamble, I’m now coming to the questions:
1. Is it possible for some kind of glitch in the subscriptions that would put someone on my list without asking?
2. If there is no glitch, is this an attempted spam?
If this can be resolved, and I know you guys answer these questions quickly, I’d be eternally grateful. It’s not unusual for me to post in blocks of four or five and if this person is genuine, I’d hate them to be bombarded with more posts they didn’t ask for!
Thanks in advance.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

certainly sounds odd -! (and spammy, but it could also be a glitch…) Just curious – when you go to Dashboard>Blogstats, and look at the bottom left of the page under email subscribers, does it show that this person is actually subscribed, or not?
I suppose one thing you could safely do, if you want to be helpful, is reply to this person via the comment box yourself – that would not expose your email address to them. You could point them at details of how to unsubscribe. And of how to contact support, which if they are genuine and they are receiving unwanted subscriptions from your blog, they might want to do, as there is a muddle happening somewhere. (Although that muddle could be that someone else could have entered their email address, and signed them up unbeknownst to themselves.)

@pienbiscuits
The user named ludusnaturae has this blog http://ludusnaturae.wordpress.com/ and he is a Volunteer helping in the Translation forum. I sincerely doubt that he is attempting to spam your blog. In fact, I’d be willing to place a wager that he isn’t. IMO contacting Staff maybe the way to go http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ -
@Timethief. What is there that you don’t know? If you say he’s OK, I believe you. I’ll contact the support, nevertheless.
@Heatherstark. Thanks for your concern and your suggestions. The thought had occurred to me that someone may have signed him up for a subscription without his knowledge. Telling him my blog is fantastic should’ve been more than adequate!
I said I’d take the risk of looking like a numpty and I was successful in my mission!
Thanks once again, to both of you.
