A user that can manage a single page?

We currently use wix – and are thinking about moving to wordpress.com

Can we make a page for someone else to manage? Like “Mikes Page”, and then let Mike be able to update it, change it, and publish it.

But ONLY let mike edit his own page – not start making loads of pages, or edit any of our other pages.

Thanks so much for any help

On the standard WordPress.com plans, the built-in user roles are a bit “all or nothing,” so a typical Editor or Author would unfortunately have access to more than just a single page. However, you can absolutely achieve this restricted access by using a Role Manager plugin (like “User Role Editor” or “Members”), which requires the Business plan or higher. With one of these plugins, you can create a custom role for Mike and set specific “Capabilities” that allow him to edit only the pages where he is assigned as the author. Once configured, Mike would log in and see a very simplified dashboard where your main site settings and other staff pages are completely hidden from him, leaving him with access only to “Mike’s Page.”Another way to handle this without extra plugins is to use a “Front-end Editor” tool, which allows users to make changes directly on the live site rather than in the back-end dashboard. This is often less intimidating for “Mikes” who aren’t tech-savvy, as it restricts their workspace to a specific visual area you’ve designated for them. If you are currently on Wix, you’re used to a very visual interface, so this plugin-based approach on a WordPress.com Business plan would give you that same ease of use while providing the strict “stay in your lane” permissions that the default settings lack.
