A way to go round the new block editor
-
It is possible to avoid the stupid overly fancy block editor system (which doesn’t even work!) almost entirely. This way:
Create a draft post, containing just anything. That is, if you can – at least my system keeps giving me an error about how I’m not authorised to post or edit a post or whatever. Somehow I finally (after trying almost two hours!!!!!!) suddenly had a draft in my list.
So, when you go to your posts list, you (hopefully) see the new draft. When you move your cursor over the new post, you get a bunch of choices:
Edit | Classic Editor | Quick Edit | Copy | Bin | ViewChoose “Classic Editor”
And Voilá! You have your post in the good old classic editor and all editing stuff etc works just fine. And you can actually even publish your post!!!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I agree. The new posts editor is unacceptable. Even worse is that the new posts editor is the default and there is apparently no one way to keep using the classic editor as the default.
I must be able to select the classic editor as the default so that I do not have to manually select it every time I want to post.

Thank you so much for posting this! I am stunned at how HORRIBLE the new editor is & the “switch to Classic” in the settings doesn’t work. I’ve spent the last hour trying to do a post that normally takes me 10 minutes. What a way to make things 500% more difficult!

I’m not a fan of the block system either. I’ve used the regular classic admin because it’s easy and you can place stuff well enough. Blocks are fine for certain themes or site layouts but my sites are just basic posts with a few images and maybe a video and doesn’t need all the block features. Classic block just looks weird when I’m using it.

I’m just worried they’ll block (pun intended!) this re-route, too, eventually. Therefore I’m on the lookout for new options.
Not what I was planning to do with my time and very limited energy, though :(
