I would like to create a website that the visitor have to scroll up instead of down as usual. I have look into plugins but all of them is about the jumping to point, smooth or, infinite scrolling. So I wonder if WordPress has a plugin for that or any custom css, javascript can do that? I am considering upgrade my site to business plan.

Hey there,
Many thanks for reaching out.
Technically – there’s not a lot that’s possible, but I’d just like to get my head around this particular request…
I would like to create a website that the visitor have to scroll up instead of down as usual.
Ok, so what you’re looking to achieve is that when someone lands on tuangstudio.com, the first thing they’ll see is the bottom of the site?
If yes, are you able to provide more information/context as to why you’re looking to build something like that? (or if there’s an example of the website you’re looking to emulate, that too would also be helpful.)
This will help us to come up with a solution for you.
For something like this, javascript would be needed to achieve this, but a developer would be needed to create that (or there may be a snippet online that could work), and this could be run on the WordPress.com Business plan.
Looking forward to hearing more – this sounds interesting. :)

Hello, aleone89.
I have once built that described website from scratch with my friends about 2 years ago. It was hosted with heroku site back when it was free. The source code is still on Github. I am no professional programmer and more of a website designer. I understand coding and JavaScript at the basic level.
The site I’m trying to do has the same concept of that previous one where a viewer experiences a storyline from bottom of the page and up to the top. Simply imagine this as a ground floor and go up to the roof top of a building. This gimmick helps with storytelling and concept art.
So let’s say if I pay the business plan, what’s next I will need? A JavaScript editor plug-in? And where should I look for the code that could work with the theme I selected. Let’s say I will go with Astra or a Blank theme.

Oops! I want to end my previous reply wit ‘Thank you.’ But, I accidentally click submit button and can’t edit it. So… yeah.. thanks in advance.

Hi there,
To achieve this bottom-to-top reading experience on WordPress.com, you’re right in thinking that it would require a specialized theme. Additionally, there may be some plugins that could help enhance this experience. However, achieving this specific structure would almost certainly involve some custom coding.
If you’re not familiar with coding or theme development, don’t worry. We have an excellent solution for you. I’d highly recommend our Built by WordPress.com service. This service provides custom site builds tailored specifically to your unique requirements, and our experts would be more than happy to help bring your vision to life. You can learn more about what this service entails and how it can benefit your site at the following link: https://wordpress.com/support/built-by-wordpress-com/
Do let me know if you have any other questions or if there’s anything else I can assist you with.

Hello, Thanks but this did not answer my question much. I only need to know what theme, plug-in and where on the menu of the dashboard (of a business plan) to work with JavaScript well. I don’t want a whole new theme customized for this feature, I would like to try the coding.

Thanks for clarifying. You’ve done great with your site so far, so that is definitely achievable!
The site I’m trying to do has the same concept of that previous one where a viewer experiences a storyline from bottom of the page and up to the top. Simply imagine this as a ground floor and go up to the roof top of a building. This gimmick helps with storytelling and concept art.
This may be possible with a built in option you can use on your premium plan without upgrading. That would be to set up a page jump at the bottom of pages (that you want to scroll up from the bottom) by following the steps here:
Page jumping, also referred to as anchor links or jump links, is where you click a link and instantly get moved somewhere further up or down a long page. The Table of Contents to the right is an example of page jumps. Why Use Page Jumps? A page jump is a great way to link to a section of a page. Your site visitors can click to go from one part of a long page to another part of that same paCreating page jumps will result in a link that (if clicked) will jump someone to the bottom of the page, and you can add those to your menu, so that if someone clicks on “Interactive Art” they are taken to the bottom of the page instead of the top: https://wordpress.com/support/splitting-content/page-jumps/#page-jumps-in-a-navigation-menu
Note that the behavior of page load will vary by theme. Some may land the visitor at the top of the page and then smooth-scroll to the anchor link. Others may insert the visitor directly at the bottom where they will never see the top until they scroll there.
As for plugins, I was not able to find anything specific to starting at the bottom of the page and then scrolling up. Usually novel navigation techniques like this are seen as being sub-optimal for Search Engine Optimization (SEO) so it’s not common to find plugins for them. However 3rd party jump link plugins may offer the option if you compare/try out a few: https://wordpress.com/plugins/?s=jump+link
Another option might be to use the built in anchor link option I shared above, but use a redirection plugin to manage the traffic to that specific link. E.G. if someone clicks on mysite.com/installation-art/ (maybe from a Google search or an older bookmark) they would be automatically taken to the anchor link at the bottom of the page, at mysite.com/installation-art/#start-from-the-bottom. https://wordpress.com/plugins/?s=redirection
Under the business plan you would be able to add custom code via SFTP, but also there are options to add plugins for inserting custom code, and that is what we recommend since editing source files directly is not recommended unless you are experienced in doing it correctly: https://wordpress.com/plugins/?s=code+snippets
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

Hi again,
I also wanted to add that since we’ve been talking so much about plugins in this thread, it may be worth checking out our upcoming webinar on Picking the Perfect Plugin.
https://wordpress.com/learn/webinars/picking-the-perfect-plugin/
We cover in more detail how to best search for and find a plugin to fit your needs, and best practices to keep in mind to make sure your are choosing plugins you can depend on over time.
There is a session tomorrow but I am not sure that it fits your schedule. We will also be adding October dates soon.
