A weird menu item, or title thingy, or some such sh*t (who knows the exact names of these gizmos? Not me.)–whatever its proper nerd name, the words ‘#1040 (no title)’ have appeared unbidden across the top menu of my website — fegmee.wordpress.com — and try as I might, twiddle as I might, these f**king words will not go the f**k away. Any tips? And remember, be specific. Assume I know nothing. Thank you.

Hi there!
That happened to me (though it was #9-no title). What happened was that I had deleted the title of one of my pages – and since this page was included in my primary navigation menu, the title didn’t show up there either. WordPress was confused!
So try this:
1. check your pages to see if they all have titles – if one is missing a title that might be the issue.
2. if you want the page to have no title (for me it was the home page), but you still want it to show up correctly in your navigation menu, you can type the correct name into that particular menu item under ‘Navigation Label’.
To get to the menu structure, you would just click on Appearance and then Menus from your WP-Admin area.
I hope that helps! Good luck!

Hey! Thank you, Meg–that helped. Instead of renaming it, I just deleted the whole category, boom. I’m learning this. Thanks again!
Eric
