aaaahh impossible to deleting site/account
-
Please help! I’m getting more and more lost within wordpress, and I can’t find a way out. I just want to delete my sites, but none of the instructions online fit my profile. https://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/ – I don’t see the ‘delete site’ option :(
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
a) to deleting site:
https://wordpress.com/settings/delete-site/
b) to deleting account:

Hello @indiabarnardo,
Follow these steps to delete your site:
1. Go to general settings by clicking here: https://wordpress.com/settings/general/
2. Scroll at the very bottom. You will see an option to delete site there.IMPORTANT NOTE:
Deleting site will delete all the contents associated with that site, which cannot be recovered and the address associated with the deleted site cannot be used by anyone again(not even by the owner). So if you just want to start over by keeping your current blog address you can empty your site, instead of deleting it.
If you are not comfortable deleting your blog yourself, you can ask staff for help.
To reach staff, tag this question with the modlook tag on the Tags section of the sidebar.
Read about the modlook tag here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question
re:Deleting Accounts
WordPress.COM accounts cannot be deleted permanently once created. But if you still wish to deactivate your account and leave WordPress, you can follow the instructions given here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/deleting-accounts/
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Even if you deactivate your account your username is not removed from the database, so that it’s not available to any other users when they are registering for a new account. This is done to keep you from being impersonated by anyone else. Thanks!

Hi there, catandmoth.com is hosted by Wix.
What is the underlying URL of the WordPressdotcom site at the subdomain secret.catandmoth.com?
-
Hi there!
I tried the above, but as I stated, no delete button present. I wanted to submit a screenshot here. But I’ll have to explain. Under where it offers to disconnected jetpack in the settings, there is nothing, just a white space, and nothing scroll-able further down.
Yes I moved catandmoth.com to wix (as I couldn’t work out wordpress), but two secret dev areas got left behind, and I just wanted to clean it all up, so my wordpress account was clean.
How would I find out the underlying URL for secret.catandmoth.com?
Thank you so so much for all your replies! My partner and I have been shouting at the screen this morning XD

Rather than fumbling around in the dark (and although it sounds more and more like you are talking about a site using the standalone WP (org) software and not a site hosted here on WPcom), I’m going to tag this for Staff assistance.
As this is a holiday weekend for most folks, there may be a lag before they can revert here. Please be patient.
If in the meantime you find more information about where your subdomain is hosted (via receipts, charges, etc.) please let us know.
-
Thank you so so much! That’s exactly what it feels like! Sorry to be such a newb. I really appreciate all of your help :)
Yeaah I tried logging into .org but couldn’t see any sites on that side.
I must have broken something somewhere!
Thank you! I look forward to hearing more :)

Hi –
Are you trying to delete secretblog.catandmoth.com or secret.catandmoth.com? Or another address?
-
-
These domains are connected to your WordPress.com dashboard through Jetpack – but they are not actually hosted here on WordPress.com.
-
I see, they were created with wordpress, so would I have to delete jetpack? I’m not really sure what that means to be honest!
-
-
And here’s the guide for doing that: https://en.support.wordpress.com/disconnect-jetpack-sites/
:)
-
-
staff-zinnia – pleasure. Hope you are soon disconnected from jetlag. No support guide for that, I’m sorry to say. :)

Out of interest, it says
“The site is now removed from your WordPress.com account and will no longer appear under your My Sites page.”
Does that mean the sites will still exist?
-
Jetpack connects your self hosted site to the WordPress.com interface. You are just trying to remove your Jetpack connection right? That will not have any effect on the domain.
-
No, I’m trying to delete the domains, I disconnected jetpack, and the domains seemed to have disappeared with that, so I’m guessing they’ve gone now?
