AARGH! Site name switched without my consent.
-
Wordpress drives me crazy and I’ve been using it for over ten years. I created a new site and spent the entire evening on it with crazy deadline pressure. For whatever reason, WordPress switched my URL from a very specific name to that name plus a bunch of numbers. I cannot work with that! I have to be live in 36 hours! What do I do now?
-
wordpress.com just doesn’t switch names of sites, only the owner is able to do so.
It looks you are logged in to the wrong account as you are talking about using wordpress.com for ten years but your account georgraftactor is only 3 hours old.
What is the URL of your “missing” site? -
This is a new blog. My regular blog is over ten years old with over a million views but if the age of a site is what counts, I should go elsewhere. Thanks for the “help”.

I see a site https://georgeraftactor.wordpress.com/ with a coming soon message. Are you definitely logged in to the right account to reach it?
-
Yes, it is the right login. It has two sites listed. One is georgeraftactor and the other is georgeraftactor207621439. Unfortunately, the second one has what I set up last night and I do not want to use that url. It looks to me like I will have to start all over again. I haven’t been able to find which theme was used to create it. How can I do that? Thanks for your help.

Why not simply export the content from one site and import it to the other?

Your solution would work for content. For now I am only trying to recreate the modified theme under the correct url. I think it is Maywood so I will start there. Another thought is to delete the correct site, then rename the incorrect one with the correct name. That might work. If not, I will have to start from scratch.

Got it. Then I will just have to try to recreate the modified theme from scratch. Thanks for your help.
