Ability to edit tags disappear after entering them

Since the past month or so I noticed that the ability to edit tags vanish as soon as I enter some words in. They appear on top of “Add a category” right at the “Publish” section, but the whole tag box no longer shows up after a couple of words are entered. What’s happening?

This is actually concerning the WordPress visual text editor.
This is what I meant:
Prior to publishing an entry, there are tags and category assignment options.
Then I would add tags:
The weird thing is after entering the tags, the whole editor will refresh, and the options to re-edit the tags or re-assign a category will no longer appear:
Do you see? The “add tags” and “assign a category” functions have disappeared and will NOT reappear, not even if I tried to close the window and EDIT the post. It won’t ever appear.
I’ve been using WordPress for over a year with no problems, but this happened about a month ago. I thought it was just an update or a bug issue but it’s been going on long enough. Can you please fix this issue.

Hi, it’s not a browser issue. My cache has been cleared and WordPress still refreshes automatically after I entered the tags, and once it refreshes, the options to enter/edit tags and enter/edit categories will disappear. It’s a WordPress issue.

We can try to replicate the issue on our end. Which browser and version are you using?
It is still worth working through that document shared in the previous staff reply. There could be things like browser extensions that are running interference. Let me know if this issue continues when you try using an incognito window, or a different browser.
After looking through things I haven’t found any other reports of this happening. We will need as much detail as possible.

I’m using Firefox (for Mac), version 111.0. It happens in both private and normal windows. I closed my browser and restarted the computer twice. This issue only started happening within the past month. I haven’t downloaded any extensions during this time and I’ve been using WordPress for over a year with Firefox with no problems.

I’m only using Adblock Plus, which I’ve been using for years. I have no other extensions. I did remove Adblock Plus to test if the problem persisted and yes, the problem with the editor refreshing and the Tags input box still disappeared despite my removal of the extension.

Just to confirm here and to help narrow down the issue, are tags working correctly if you add the tags before going to publish the post. For example, here is how you can add tags to a post before publishing a post:
Also, could you let me know if you are having this issue on all of your sites or just a specific site?
The screenshots you shared above indicated that you were adding the tags after clicking the Publish button so I just wanted to check to see if it is specific to the option seen to add tags after clicking Publish.

hi, it was happening to all of my sites. and yes, you’re right, i used the publish button – as i set my blog to showing pre-publish checks so i always enter the tags just before completely publishing them.
