Ability to update a Post excerpt (or teaser?) -WordPress hosted blog

  Best to describe the issue. I publish a post, and share on say Linkedin. I decide to edit the first paragraph of original, update it but when I share again the OLD text (excerpt, teaser or whatever it ie called) is used – not the revised text.

  How can automatic excerpt generator be made to update with a post update??

  BUT the text in post is now different. (2004 was a typo). Can this excerpt not be updated when the post is updated? How?
