Able Theme – featured images in portfolio project posts
-
I’ve enabled the Portfolio custom content type in my settings and published three projects, the text of which are currently displayed on my blog’s front page in three columns using the portfolio shortcode. However, there is no option to add a featured image to a project post in Able theme and embedded images do not appear.
I’m also unable to make the “read more” button appear on the front page despite there being a read more tag in one of the project posts.
Am I missing something or are these bugs?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, I’ve been doing some testing with Able and portfolios, and I’m going to have to chat with our theme developers on this. The More tag works, and hides the content after it, but the more tag does not show, or appear in the HTML.
Also, the lack of featured images for project types seems strange.
I’ll report back as soon as I have a chance to discuss this with the developers. You may have found some bugs.

@essveeell, sorry this has taken so long. The Able theme does not support featured images. if you wish to use Featured images in posts, portfolio projects, or pages, you will need to switch to a theme that does support them. Here is a link to the Theme Showcase filtered to show themes with Featured Image support.

That’s disappointing to hear. I wish WordPress would make features like this available across all themes, not just newer and fancier ones.
In any case, thanks for follow up. Unfortunately I can’t change the theme so will have to make do.

Sorry I didn’t have better news for you. Able was released in 2012, and featured images were around then, but it was designed as a more traditional no-frills theme to replace two old retired themes, Andreas 04 and Andreas 09, and in keeping with the general tone of those themes, featured images were not included. Currently 303 of the 359 themes we offer have featured images, and it is the trend to include that feature in new themes. Hopefully sometime in the near future one that has that feature will come along that you like and can use.
