    When I was registering for my blog, I first typed in the name spirithome.wordpress.com. It told me that address was already registered, though it is not being used.

    Thing is, I’m the owner of spirithome.com/.org/.net.

    I need to find out if a previous engineer for the site somehow set that name aside <i>for me</i>, or if someone else bought it with potential infringement on their mind. I would like to start a separate blog just for the website’s purposes, but I would need to know who it is.

    Do you have a global trademark on “Spirithome”? Because it seems to me it’s perfectly reasonable to expect in a world of a billion or so blogs, someone would have registered it at Blogspot or Tumblr or WordPress.com.

    If you have a trademark, your lawyer will know what to do. If you don’t, you can comment on that blog and ask who the owner is, and if they’d like to give or sell it to you. Otherwise, you are just going to have to live with it.
