About Biographical Info

Hi! I’m new to the site! Soryy to bother with this, probably silly question, but I’ve been browsing the FAQs etc and I cna’t find an answer to this. In the section where you edit your profile there is an option where you can wrtie about yourself and I guess about the AIM of the blog. So once I write about me and what thhis blog is about how do I make it appear in the main page, I mean on the blog. So that people who visit it can read about me and the aim of the blog.
Thank you! I’d appreciate a kind answer!..:)
NancyThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

That option is practically useless, and you can’t make it appear in your blog. Write about yourself and the blog in your About page instead, or in a text widget.
And please paste the exact URL of your blog when asking questions here, or link your nickname to your blog (as explained in the Sticky 8 Things to Know Before Posting). We usually need that to give a relevant answer.

Hi thank you for the reply. Sorry I didn’t include a link,…(I’m a bit at a loss).
I did read the 8 things to know before posting. I’m sorry I didn’t see this. In fact, I thought that by posting a message people have access to the blog by clicking on the avatar!!??As regard to my first question, by posting “the Biographical Info” in the About page, won’t it dissapear after other postS?.. I just thought it was like in Blogger where there is a an option to have a small pofile info in the front page. !
Thanks!http://missmarian.wordpress.com/ -
You’ve got an “About” tab in your header, and that’s a page, not a post. Click it and you’ll see. Pages sit outside the chronological order of posts.
Dashboard > Pages > Edit: click on the title of the About page, type info there, Update.
If you prefer having the info on your sidebar, then Dashboard > Appearance > Widgets: activate a Text widget, type info there, save.

Be prepared when you use the text widget and what theme/layout you use, that you might have one long paragraph that crowds down other things if you have it before them.
I got around that by placing a link to my about page in the text widget. It supports html, so it’s pretty easy to put the code in there. I’ll use mine as an example. my blog is at http://desertrosemusings.wordpress.com
(replace the () with <> and substitute your own wordpress address for mine and the name of your blog for mine)

here is information about the difference between pages and posts:
http://support.wordpress.com/?s=pages+vs+postshere is info about putting info into a text widget on your side bar:
http://support.wordpress.com/widgets/text-widget/(you can write and format it in a draft post visual editor, and then switch to html editor and copy the html into the text widget after you get it formatted the way you like)
