Question? If I upgrade to speedyjerry.com as you request I do on my homepage for $17.00 a year will it affect my exhisting blogs and work done so far? Will I loose my work? Will it just all automatically transfer from here to speedyjerry.com?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If you purchase the domain upgrade, http://speedyjerry.wordpress.com/ will get redirected to speedyjerry.com automatically.
You an read more about the domain updgrade here:

speedyjerry.com will map to ONE blog only – which ever one you choose to have the upgrade for.
No existing blogs will be affected other that the one that is upgraded then that blog would have two ways to find it (speedyjerry.com and your-old-blog.wordpress.com)
All work will stay on the old existing site – in fact new content will actually be added on the old existing site – only the public name changes.
Visitors can visit your blog with either the old name or speedyjerry.com – but when they get to the blog they will see speedyjerry.com displayed in the browser address line.

Thanks to both of you, sounds easy enough for an old Carpenter to follow. I will make the switch soon.

Almost, I have one blog called “rolling downhill like a snowball headed for hell” with many sub-topics under that, all will stay intact and will be able to add? Thanks for your patience, am not an educated IT.
-
If by sub-topics you mean posts, pages, category pages, then yes, none of that will change.
For example http://speedyjerry.wordpress.com/2011/11/28/obama-blunders-a-lost-opportunity/ will get redirected to http://speedyjerry.com/2011/11/28/obama-blunders-a-lost-opportunity/
Same goes for all the other pages on your blog.
