About comments..

  Do I have to approve every comment? I’d like for them to appear instantly without having to approve them. It’s only my nearest family/friends which comments anyway. And do I have to recieve mails about them? I have a domain registered wordpress blog. Thank you :)

  You can go to Dashboard -> Settings -> Discussion and scroll down to the “Before a comment appears” part and uncheck all the boxes. I’m unsure as to whether this applies to what Askimet deems as spam, thought. :)

  Usually Akismet is very good at intercepting spams, so complete moderation isn’t necessary. I teach blogging to beginners and I recommend they open up the comments right from the start. The smartest thing about the internet I ever read was John Seabrook’s comment:

  “The internet interprets censorship as damage and routes around it.”

  That means moderating comments will actively cost you loyal readers. I wouldn’t risk it.

  @ingeborgh – please provide us with a link to your wordpress.COM blog so that we can determine if you are in the right place. And linking it to your user name as explained in the sticky at the top of the forums would be great.
