  • Hi,

I’m sorry to hear that your domain has expired. I understand that can cause some problems. Let me see if I can help.

Once a domain is expired, it cannot be transferred to another registrar. If the domain is still in the expired domain grace period, or if it is in redemption, you may still be able to get it back. For more information on what happens when your domain expires, and how to get it back, please see the following link:

    Domain Expiration

Please note, you’ll need to take immediate action on this or you may risk losing the domain. If you are successful at re-registering the domain, you will be able to transfer the domain to another registrar after a 60-day transfer lock. Unfortunately, this transfer lock cannot be waived.

I hope this information helps! Good luck and let us know if you need additional help!

    Hi direevanders,

I really gotta transfer it now, what should I do ?

clairvanderswan.com expired on 2017-08-27 and will need to be renewed before it can be transferred to another registrar. Please renew the domain from your Manage Purchases page:

    https://wordpress.com/me/purchases

Once the domain has been renewed, it can be transferred using the steps in this guide:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/move-domain/transfer-domain-registration/

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you for the answer , this problem exists before it’s expired , I tried so many times to transfer it to aruba, it fails all the time , I contacted aruba staff , they checked and told me cause it was locked with wordpress , nothing they can do and I did everything I can do like unlock the domain for transfer and the transfer code , so now it’s expired I don’t really feel like pay for it again here, is there any way I can use this domain with another platform? Can’t I just give it up here ?

    Hi direevanders,

I contacted aruba staff , they checked and told me cause it was locked with wordpress

Another member of staff explained why you were unable to transfer the domain in this thread: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/my-domain-is-locked-by-wordpress.

It’s only possible to transfer a newly registered domain 60 days after the registration date — this 60 day lock is required by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and cannot be waived. It looks like you previously contacted us for help when the 60 day lock was still in place.

is there any way I can use this domain with another platform? Can’t I just give it up here ?

At the moment there are two options:

    1. Renew the domain through WordPress.com and transfer it to another platform.
    2. Allow the domain to expire then register it again elsewhere — this is the risky option and therefore not one we recommend

If you would prefer to renew and transfer the domain, I’ll be here if you need you any help along the way.

Hello, thank you for the suggestion , I just deleted this site and gave up the domain , but I checked in other place says this domain is still registered, what should I do …?

    Hi direevanders,

Cancelled domains aren’t available immediately as they work thorough a cancellation process before being released into the pool of available domains. The entire process can take 80 days or more and you will only be able to register the domain again once it has been released.

If you would rather try and renew it through WordPress.com I can send a payment request for the domain cost and contact our registrar once it has been paid.

If not, you will need to wait until the domain has been released.
