About getting previous theme or pages

    Hello,

    I am very new to WordPress. We have our website in WordPress we purchased new theme. We were facing issue to install new theme. We asked for support from theme store and they installed it. Now some how that new theme is activated and it contains new demo data in it.

    Now we need content from previous theme or any way to get pages from previous theme.

    Is there are way to get previous theme or to find out which theme is active before current theme?

    Hi @kaledhananjay,

    I’m just a community volunteer (not WordPress.com staff), but here are some tips that might help:

    • Themes and content: Switching or installing a new theme doesn’t usually delete your pages or posts those stay in your WordPress database. What often happens is that the new theme’s demo content gets imported and it looks like your old pages are gone, but they should still be in your dashboard under Pages → All Pages and Posts → All Posts.
    • Check revisions: If your existing pages got overwritten, open the page editor and look at the Revisions panel (on the right-hand side). That lets you roll back to an earlier version.
    • Previous theme info: To see which theme was active before, go to Appearance → Themes. You’ll see all installed themes there, and the one that was active earlier should still be available to re-activate.
    • Backups: If you’re on WordPress.com with a paid plan, staff may also be able to help restore from their backups.

    If you don’t see your old content in Pages/Posts, it may have been replaced in that case, restoring from a backup is the only option.

    Alternatively, you can enter your domain URL in our Site Profiler utility to see if your site is hosted here on WordPress.com, the hosting provider, or somewhere else using the open source WordPress software.
