About page not showing up!
-
Hi, hope this is the right place. I just started a new blog and posted my ‘About’ page but when I click on ‘View site’, I get the site but there’s no entry–it just says “Sorry, no posts matched your criteria.”
I saved the post so I don’t know what happened? -
“no posts match your criteria” because you have no posts. You deleted the hello world post. There is a difference between pages and posts. What will show up on the main page of your blog are “posts.”
Put the pages widget into your sidebar and the about page link will show up in that widget.
Also, you might want to read this just in case you do not know the differences between pages and posts: http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/11/11/a-post-and-a-page/

Ok, I put the widget in the sidebar but it just says ‘About’ on the page. How do I get what I wrote into the page?
-
Never mind. It does show. But–when I’m on my dashboard and click on “View site” I still get the page with this on it “Sorry, no posts matched your criteria.” Why can’t I view my site from my dashboard?
-
Pages are static and sit outside the blog structure. To have something show up on the main page, it has to be a “post.” Read the link I gave you and it will clarify things. If you click on the “about” link in the pages widget, your “about” page will load into the browser for you to see.
-
What you are viewing is the main blog page, which is the one where posts appear. The about page is not the main landing page for your blog.

You’re very welcome. If you make a test “post” and publish it, it will show up on your main blog page and the “no posts match your criteria” warning will go away.
