About the new theme "Libre"
-
The new theme Libre is a great theme to write, but I think one little thing can make it better: when the sidebar widget is empty, the single post page should take the full width template.

Thanks for the feedback. The designer intended Libre as a two-column theme, so it does work best with widgets in the sidebar. If you prefer to widen the layout of the post, that could be done with some custom CSS, which we’d be glad to help you with if you like.
We may consider adding a full-width post option in the future if there is demand for it, but for now those are the options. Thanks again for giving Libre a spin!

Is there a way to get the theme to show featured images? Else I’d need to make changes to all my posts. Thanks.

@tanmelvyn, Libre does not support featured images. You can set one, but it will not appear on your site. To make that happen would require editing of the theme files, and we cannot do that at WordPress.com
In the future, please feel free to start a new thread when there isn’t one on the topic you are inquiring about. This helps to keep threads from getting confusing by having multiple topics in a single thread. Thanks in advance.

I’d like the options for posts that are available for pages, e.g. the full width option. I’d like that for my posts. Thanks!

@tanmelvyn, for self-hosted WordPress sites such as yours, I would suggest posting in the WordPress.org LIbre Theme Support forum. They should be able to get you started on modifying your site to show featured images.

@henryrstone, I don’t see any site associated with your username using the Libre theme. If you are using it, can we have a link to it, and if you are not, can I ask you to create a new thread in the CSS Forum? CSS is theme specific and having questions on multiple themes can cause confusion for users searching for answers in the future. Many thanks in advance.

tanmelvyn – Libre actually isn’t in the WordPress.org repository yet. To add featured image support you’d need to make a child theme and make some customizations. If you need help with that, feel free to post in the WordPress.org forums anyway, adding this tag to the tags area of your post:
wpcom-themeYou’ll need a free WordPress.org account to post – if you don’t already have one, you can register here:

Be sure to provide a link to your site when you post so people can help you more easily.

Hello,
I’m using the Libre theme since yesterday and love everything about it except one thing: there seems to be little space for the title and tagline on the homepage (desktop view), which results into a tagline cut halfway. (My blog: http://bisesdeparis.com/)I am not familiar with CSS, but is there any way I can modify this? This would be either:
a) Lengthening the space for title + tagline
b) Forcing the tagline to be displayed below the title. On another matter I would like to add that there is quite a lot of white on top of the page, meaning very few text is shown on small desktop screens.
Otherwise great work & thanks a lot in advance for your help!
