  About the text widget, if I were to place an image and embed a link within the image, is that allowed? Does that break the whole NO ADS rule on WordPress?

  Depends on where the link goes and what the image is of. Read the TOS.

  IDK, about the wordpress ad rules, but I have images in my sidebar but they aren’t ads. So, if your pictures are in fact ads then I guess you are breaking the rules.
