About the wordpress.com ad on top of my website
-
hey, I own the blog biotrivia.home.blog, powered by wordpress.
Recently I added a mailchimp popup subscription banner. The problem is the advertisement ‘create your free website with wordpress.com…..’ has blocked the close button of the popup. So it’s not possible for my viewers to opt out of subscription, it’s kind of annoying even for me. What can I doThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi –
Thanks for writing to us. That is certainly annoying.
When I look at the site in Google Chrome I can successfully see, and use, the
xto close out the pop up.Can you send me a screen shot of the problem?
Also, It’d be great to know which browser you’re seeing the problem. Thanks.

Also just had a look on Safari and things are working there too. Let me know if this is happening on mobile views, tablet, or computer. Thanks.

Hi there,
This is because of how you chose to position the pop-up, right at the top of the page.
For logged-out users the close button is hidden behind the “Create a blog” message, and for logged in users it’s hidden behind the WordPress.com admin bar. So it’s not because of the ad this is happening – that ad uses exactly the same space as the admin bar for logged in visitors.
The admin bar is programmed to always be on top – nothing on the page can cover it, so anything you try to add in the same space as the admin bar will always appear behind it.
If you just start scrolling up on the page the button becomes visible, or else you can change the widget’s settings in Mailchimp to position the pop-up differently on the page so it doesn’t try to occupy the same space as the admin bar.
