  hello! I’m super new to having my own website (well I guess I don’t actually have one yet). I bought my domain on Domain.com and I’m not sure if I should transfer it for free, or pay the 13 dollars a year to link it to WordPress or something similar. I want to do something flexible that is also cost-effective. I’m in college and my website is the beginnings of my dreams for a business in the future.

  If you want a site here at WordPress.com along with a custom domain it would have been more straight-forward to buy the domain here too. However you can use that domain with a site here at WordPress.com. You’ll need a Personal plan or higher to map the domain (if you’ve owned it less than 60 days) or transfer it, (You can’t do it for free or for $13).
