Academia Theme not functioning properly

I am now using a new theme “Academia”. Everytime I save my changes and refresh my screen, no changes occur. I have tried to put my facebook like box to the right side of the page but it is staying on the left. I have tried to change my image background and nothing is working. Please help

I’m sorry you’re having trouble! Can you let me know the name of the widget area where you’re adding the Facebook Like box? The Academica theme has several widget areas that appear on various pages as explained here:

As for the background image, I don’t see any uploaded background images here:

Can you try again from that page?

I was successful at changing the background but apparently when I make changes with the other widgets it only displays when a reader clicks on a post, but all the changes I make do not appear in the main page of this theme, why is this?
I can only go so many days with my site like this, I may try a different theme

Hi Nycole,
The Academica theme has specific widget areas that are used for the home page and others that only appear on blog pages. Perhaps you placed the Like box into a widget area that only appeared on post pages. It looks like you’ve switched to the Twenty Fourteen theme. Do you like that one so far?

Thank you so much for your willingness to help.
I decided not to use academia, although it had a great feature slider. The current one I have I love, the only problem? My competitor (who has a much much larger readership) so that is why I have been back and forth through different themes.
Until I find the “perfect” one this is the theme I will go with. I plan on purchasing a theme that I have been looking at “similar” to the MH magazine theme, are you familiar with that one?
Problem is every time I “demo” these themes to get an idea of what it looks it looks almost nothing like what I see initially, the problem I am having is the features that it is offering for example mainly the “Feature Slider” option. Why am I having these issues?

For some of the themes, the setup required to get the blog looking like the theme demo can require a few steps. However, if you enable a theme, I’m happy to help you get the theme looking exactly like the demo. Let me know when you decide on a theme, and I can help walk you through the setup process!
