Access Log?
-
Is there any way I can trace the ISP of someone who is Googling obscene and threatening phrases to get to my blog? I’ve had 12 in the last 10 hours or so and I believe these all come from the same person who knows that I can see what Google phrases have been used. Does WP have some sort of access log where I can see what ISP someone has used who has visited my blog (but not left a comment).
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Where are these search phrases being seen? Is you blog hosted at WordPress.COM or elsewhere? Are they able to insert URLs this way?

Under Site Stats, where it says Search Terms. Yes, the blog is hosted at wordpress.com. They can’t insert URLs. They’re just using it to send me a message – which is becoming more threatening each time. I’ve had about 24 in the last 24 hours.

Use a plain text widget from Sitemeter and you can get some help – the IP numbers are listed

Excellent, thank you. I’ve signed up and got the instructions but I’m stuck! would you be able to help with that please? It says add a text widget. And then click on edit in the text widget you just created. I already have one text widget in the RH side bar and I don’t know how to add another one. If I click on Text Widget on the list and drag it across, it doesn’t give me an additional one just the one I’ve already got. Presumably if I paste the HTML code into that one it will remove what was already there. Am I being stupid? (No need to answer that!). Help appreciated.

You should be able to drag and drop a second text widget into the sidebar – sometimes you have to sort of jiggle around to open up an area to drop the next widget into.
Some themes are a bit strange so a link to the blog you are asking about would help us give you accurate help.

I gave up trying to put up another text widget so deleted what was in the one I had and inserted the Sitemeter HTML. That now seems to work. My blog is pompoms.wordpress.com.
Very many thanks for all your help.

If you are having trouble with the drag and drop method of adding another text widget, then try this: On the upper right of your screen (on the widgets page) there is a link to “screen options.” Click that, then click on “enable accessibility mode” so you can then use the “add” button next to the text widget. A popup with allow you to select where you want the new widget.
