Access my FTP site and redirect it to a new URL

    I’m trying to access my FTP site so I can have the URL redirect. Long story short, we used an outside marketing agency to create our website, and they are no longer with us. They only left us our IP address, username, and password. They said they used WordPress to update the site, so I’m hoping that if I buy a WordPress account and enter the credentials I’ll be able to make changes, such as redirecting the site. I’ve been able to get into it and make changes using Filezilla and Notepad ++, but now we need it redirect to another URL. I don’t know if that can be done just on Filezilla.

    What is the URL for your website?

    I’m fairly certain that you have a self-hosted WordPress site.

    This forum is for WordPress.com hosted sites and we do not have FTP access to those sites and do not allow you to edit the files directly, as you mention you’ve done. So that leads me to believe you have a self-hosted or WordPress.org site.

    Buying a WordPress.com account won’t help in this case.

    If you know the company who is hosting your website, I would suggest contacting them. You can use http://www.whoishostingthis.com which may tell you who is hosting the site.
