Access old editing format?

Please stop posting here. What you are posting into two threads now is not helpful and may lead to confusion. Please simply wait patiently for Staff assistance. -
JUST HAPPENED
The way of getting into the Old Format through comments / WP Admin does not work now. Good I saved the All Post old format on URL in case that happened.

Just found that that going to “Dashboard” then “All Post” gets you old format to view & post in.
WordPress what is going on?
-
Hi folks, you should still be able to access the old editor. Type your site name in the browser address bar (the one at the top) then add this:
/wp-admin/post-new.php
Feel free to bookmark the resulting page. If that doesn’t work for you, send a link to your site and we’ll help.
Also, menu links and what not will generally point to the new editor if they don’t already, so that users can have a consistent experience between our various apps.

Thank you. Will we be able to access old editor this way for a long time or only for the next couple of months?

Hope for the best but fear the worst, with emphasis on “worst”. What is going on is known as “phasing out”. Like removing a band-aid from hairy skin: not in one big clean tug, but bit-by-bit-by-bit…..

@mabelamber, @ombiaombia I can’t promise wp-admin will never change. In fact, I’m pretty sure it will change significantly over time, just as it has in the past. Software must evolve and adapt.
But while we point users to Calypso here, and while we’re putting a lot of effort into further developing it, wp-admin is separate and also evolving.

I seriously object to the wording “switch to our improved posting experience”.
For me Word Press’ new format is NOT an improvement, just NOT. Why should others decide for me whether something is “improved” ? The only thing I need is a piece of paper and a pencil to write. The classic editor represents those basic needs perfectly, together with some other facilities. Just perfect. Period.Software must develop and adapt
Who told you that? There is absolutely no need at all to change a basic editor.
Why doesn’t WP just say “(…) to our *new* posting experience?”. That at least would remove the very annoying assault on and disregard of my personal opinion.

@mabelamber
I’m with you. The two-year long process that is still underway to introduce Calyspso, so the site is accessible to mobile and tablet users has not resulted in an improved blogging experience for desktop users. The result for desktop users like me has been blogging becoming a more difficult and time consuming process and a far less enjoyable one. That “switch to our improved posting experience” message on our dashboards is an insult to our intelligence. -
That “switch to our improved posting experience” message on our dashboards is an insult to our intelligence.
Indeed. Your wording is more to the point than mine.
-
@mabelamber
I try to ignore it and that’s easily done now that I no longer choose to blog regularly here. -
As a matter of fact, I find that other sites have begun to “insult” my intelligence in the same way: dumbing down the former set up by removing smart intelligently designed features and filling them in with simplistic replacements.
-
@mabelamber
Agreed but we cannot go on like this here, even though I know exactly what you mean. -
Likemindedness is a sweet thing, either on topic or off ;-)
Meanwhile we can hold our heads high and bear the insults of mass “evolving” with restrained but ever watchful scorn.
Wishing you a good weekend timethief :)

@mabelamber – great posts, i second everything you wrote!
As soon as this “improved” format becomes the only one available I will move my blog somewhere else. I am still suprised, that so many userers are simply ignored?!
