Access Problems/Web Host Gone AWOL

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi,

Hopefully you can help me. I set up a webblog through the web host Blogs-about.com. This was WordPress-based and can be seen at http://wearerangers.com

Blogs-about.com have since gone awol leaving me unable to access my site, unable to log in the the control panel/dashboard etc.

I have attempted to contact them many times to rectify the problem, without any success whatsoever. It appears their website is in a state of disrepair.

When I log in on the main WordPress.com site, I can see the wearerangers.com site which is associated with my account but I am still unable to gain access to the Dashboard area.

The issue is becoming important as I’m receiving many emails from other sites regarding Google penalties due to spam links appearing in the comments section and there’s nothing I can do about it.

It appears that, having set up the website a few years ago, I have lost the login details, or it may be that I am using the correct details but there is nothing to actually connect to on the webhost servers? When I click the ‘lost password’ link to reset and enter my username I get the following message: “The e-mail could not be sent. Possible reason: your host may have disabled the mail() function…”

Is there any way round this? I would be prepared to have the whole blog deleted as a solution.

Apologies if I’m not explaining as I should or the answer is obvious.

    Thank you for your help.

    Greg

This is not the right forum for help. Your site is a self-hosted version of WordPress and there is help at WordPress.org. This is for support of WordPress.com sites.
