Access reader and transferring communities from self hosted site
-
Hi there
I have three wordpress accounts (africanopinions.wp, writingafricanstories.wp and voicewriteafrica.wp)
I also have a self hosted site (voicewriteafrica.com)
I have jetpack installed
I would like to transfer followers from the three wordpress sites to the self hosted site –
How do I link these in Jet pack?
I am not able to access reader from the self hosted site
Is it possible to do this?
I would like to actually merge all three sites into the self hosted site
Is this possible?
Also the comments section (wordpress) is not working on the self hosted sites (i have evolved comments)
Can you assist me to fix it?The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The blog you specified at voicewriteafrica.com does not appear to be hosted at WordPress.com.
This support forum is for blogs hosted at WordPress.com. If your question is about a self-hosted WordPress blog then you’ll find help at the WordPress.org forums.
If you don’t understand the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org, you may find this information helpful.
If you forgot to include a link to your blog, you can reply and include it below. It’ll help people to answer your question.

Also the comments section (wordpress) is not working on the self hosted sites (i have evolved comments)
Can you assist me to fix it?WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate and have separate logins and support forums. There is no WordPress.org access to the WordPress.com reader for WordPress.org installs because they are stand alone islands that are NOT part of the WordPress.com community.

Provided you install and activate the JetPack plugin http://jetpack.me on your WordPress.org install, and provide the relevant URL(s), then Staff do the transfer of subscribers and stats for you. Please do that now as I tagged this thread for their assistance. Please subscribe to it so you are notified when they respond.

Thank you I understand this .. even is this so even though I use wordpress on the self hosted site?

The two kinds of software are different. WordPress.org provides free software for self hosting and peer support forums only – no Staff.

Sorry I meant to say … IS this so, even though I am using wordpress on the self hosted site?

Thanks for that update re: Jetpack. Please be patient while waiting for Staff to move your subscribers and stats for you.
NOTE: If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click this link http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.ORG bloggers re: your install.

Thank you – I understand this well enough
So after the community is transfered, is there anyway I can still be in touch with the wordpress communities? -
You can be “in touch” with any blogs hosted on any blogging platform that you choose to comment on. Your self hosted blog however is NOT a member of the WordPress.COM community.

Thank you for your assistance, so followers and stats will be moved for all three wordpress blogs that I currently have. This is good and thank you

Hi voicewriteafricayouth,
Your WordPress.com subscribers and email followers have been transferred from all three WordPress.com sites as requested.
Please note that any WordPress.com followers who opted to receive email updates will need to re-subscribe again on your new site through the Jetpack signup box, otherwise they’ll only see new posts in their Reader. Non-WordPress.com email subscribers will continue to get email updates.
You might think about setting up a Site Redirect for your WordPress.com sites to send your site visitors to your new domain. Otherwise, people will still be able to subscribe on your old site.

Hello, I do not mean to hijack a thread, but I am having the same issue and was unsure whether to tag along here or start a new topic. If so please advise.
Old wordpress.com blog address: http://mnestorc.wordpress.com. The blog has been transferred to wp.org and redirected to http://www.marshacannon.org. Jetpack is installed on new blog.
I don’t think that old email subscribers got transferred over. New subscribers are receiving one email which looks great but I was told that subscribers through the original wordpress.com site are receiving 2 emails, apparently one with post photos, etc. and one without. I wanted to see if I could get assistance transferring over email subscribers from the wordpress.com site to wordpress.org site. Thank you!

Hi senordeer,
I do not see either of these sites under your senordeer WordPress.com account. Please create a new thread under the username associated with mnestorc.wordpress.com, and make sure your site marshacannon.org is connected to Jetpack using the same WordPress.com account, and I’ll be happy to move your followers for you.
