Access to a WordPress site back-end – account held in another;s name
-
Hi WordPress community,
I own and run my business.
My website is built upon a WordPress platform by a colleague that has sadly passed away earlier this year.
I am trying to gain access to my site’s back-end (admin access – to make changes), but the account name is in the name of my colleague.
Can I please request guidance to help me novate the account across to me, so I may own and access the site.
Thank you and regards,

Hi there, what’s the address of the site you want to delete? Once we know that, we can point you in the right direction for support.
-
Oh my, sorry about that. I see you want to access the website, not delete it. Again, please let us know the site address involved so we can help you further.

Hello justjennifer
Yes, not a deletion – a novation.
My site is https://localroaming.com.auI am hoping to transition ownership – or establish a path so that I can own the account and gain access.
Many thanks

Name Server: NS2.SYRAHOST.COM
Name Server: NS1.SYRAHOST.COMHello again, I did a WHOIS lookup for your domain localroaming.com.au and it is using nameservers that are not associated with WordPress.com, the hosting provider, whose forums these are.
You’ll want to contact your web hosting provider, CrazyDomains.com.au for assistance in regaining access to that site. https://www.crazydomains.com.au/help/
In general, for information on working with the WordPress open source software, your best resource are the documentation and support forums at https://wordpress.org/support/
Just to clarify, this support forum you’ve posted to assists users with free websites hosted on WordPress.com, the hosting provider. You can read more about these differences at https://wordpress.org/support/article/wordpress-vs-wordpress-com/
Hope that helps.

Thank you for the guidance.
That is most appreciated.
Enjoy your Friday and best regards,Brett
