Access to account lost

    Hello,
I am a member of Hereford Sailing Club in the U.K. responsible for all the Web stuff. I took on this responsibility a couple of years ago.

We have an official website which runs on AWS with WordPress and MySQL etc. and our own domain. http://www.herefordsailingclub.org.uk/hscblog/

At the time I took all this on, I built a test website on WordPress – https://herefordsailingclub.wordpress.com/
in order to play with things, rather than mess up the live website.

At the time I was using email account “(email visible only to moderators and staff)” which was created by the person handing over permissions. Since then I have moved all the club’s email accounts to Gmail and have not revisited the test site.

Unfortunately, “tiffany.email” now seems to have disappeared, so I am unable to log in to the original account and get control of the test site.

As it was a free account, it seems that cannot even post the problem to the official WordPress Support. I understand that forum members are in contact with WordPress staff, so could somebody please bring this problem to their attention.
I want to delete the test site, or at least archive it so that it no longer appears in search engine results.

It is quite obvious that the two websites apply to our club. I can be contacted at
(email visible only to moderators and staff),
which is the address in the contact page of the test site –
or the contact address for the official site
(email visible only to moderators and staff)
To further prove my identity, I can quite easily add something to a page on the official website if required.

Many thanks if you can help,
    Andy

    Hello,
just to clarify that the account in question is not the one mentioned in this line:-
“The blog I need help with is: stokeedith.wordpress.com”
That line seems to be inserted automatically when posting a new item if your userid is linked to a particular website (e.g. another one which you maintain)

    I actually need help with
    https://herefordsailingclub.wordpress.com/

    Thanks,
    Andy Sommerville

  • Hello Andy,

Many thanks for that additional information – just to check, have you managed to reach out via passwordhelp@wordpress.com ?

    Many thanks.

    Hello,
I got an email from Foysal Ahmed via passwordhelp@wordpress.com.
It seems that the only thing on offer is to make the site private so that it doesn’t appear in search-engine results.

I have asked for that to be done because one of the the pages (at least) contains personal information in the form of the address details of a person who is no longer associated with the club.

It looks as though I will have to live with that – my own fault for losing the login credentials.

    Thanks for all your help.
    Best wishes,
    Andy

At least I thought that I had. My email was rejected as spam

    ‘WordPress.com Support’ on 18/10/2021 12:49
550 spam, or phishing or malware. Please check or edit your message and try sending it again. (6-1-3-2) ID (6139417C05BF1B39)

I sent the email again. This is what I wrote:-

    Hello,

    Thanks for replying.

I am unable to provide any of the bona fides that you ask for.
I thought that I had made this clear in both the forum entry and my email.
The reason why I posted to the forum was because I had already read the help information (as below ) on the WordPress site.

Anyway, If the best that you can do is make the site private then I would be grateful if you would do that.
You can see on the page https://herefordsailingclub.wordpress.com/chartering/ that there is personal information on the site that we, as a club, no longer have control over.

    Best wishes,
    Andy Sommerville

We’re the same support team that answers questions in the WordPress.com forums (which is where we’re replying now) and via email (which you initiated by sending an email to passwordhelp@wordpress.com.

Regarding the 550 spam, or phishing or malware. error message, it looks like BT is blocking your outgoing email messages if you’re using a email program (like Outlook).

Try logging into your webmail and reply to the email from Foysal with that same information and see if you have the same problem.

I did a quick Google search and it seems to be a very common problem with BT so you should reach out to them or comment on this thread for help: https://community.bt.com/t5/Email/Mail-bounced-back-with-quot-550-spam-or-phishing-or-malware-quot/td-p/2174131

We cannot help with the account privacy requests in the public support forums, so please continue your correspondence with Support via email (ticket #4377556).

    Thanks!
