Access to backend
-
Hello, we recently updated our website and changed the A-record etc. I am wondering if there is a way to still get access to the backend of the wordpress site since there are media libraries that we would like to transfer over to the new site. Thanks!
WP.com: Yes
Correct account: Unknown -
Hi there – That might be possible. Could you pass us the URL of the site you’re needing help with? Thanks!

Hi there,
I checked and stockfarm.com doesn’t appear to be a WordPress site. Do you know who hosts the site? If so, the best bet would be to touch base with the host to see if they can assist you with regaining access to the backend of the site or reach out to the person who developed the site for you.
But, this site was neither a WordPress-designed nor hosted site.
Hope that helps.

Yes, I am fully aware that the site is no longer a wordpress site. As I mentioned, we recently updated the domain to a new site, changing the A-Record and updating the SSL. However, the old site was a wordpress site. So my question is whether or not there is a way to gain access to the old wordpress site or if it’s been lost forever because of the domain update.

However, the old site was a wordpress site.
We have no record that your site was hosted with WordPress.com. It sounds like it was a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted elsewhere.
Because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers.
You can find more information here about the differences between WordPress.org software and WordPress.com: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/
You would need to reach out to your previous hosting provider and – provided your account there is still active – they should be able to advise what your temporary domain is to access your previous site files. If you had an FTP/SFTP/SSH login for your previous site, you could access the files that way as well.
