Add topic to favorites
I’m trying to change some things on my theme. Is there a way to do this on the PHP/HTML side it’s not possible to do it in CSS?

God help me I’m lost …

We cannot edit those files here at wordpress.COM. This is a multi-user platform which means we all share the same underlying theme and wordpress files. Any change by one person would change it for everyone using that theme.

If you want full access to the PHP code, you can switch to a self-hosted WordPress.org setup. Otherwise, we can try to see what can be done with just CSS.

No there is not. We cannot access those files and we cannot edit templates and themes. All blog here wearing the same theme are using the same template. Only Staff can access and edit and every edit they make affects all blogs wearing the same theme. CSS editing cannot be used to change functionality It can only be used to change appearance.

When you alter a theme’s stylesheet, you only need to put in the Editor the modification/additions to the CSS, not the entire thing. Read this for more info:

I also see you are using the Structure theme and would like to post this link to an article that explains how that theme is coded to operate as it’s an unusual theme.

No, it helps a lot. Thanks all! I appreciate it.

This is what I’m trying to do. I’m using a theme that (I suppose) is mostly used for blogging. I’m not interested in that. I have a main image but it’s repeated at the bottom under the main image. I was wondering if there was a way to mask that out and hide it.

You are using the Structure theme, which is pretty specialized compared to other past WordPress.com themes even.

I looked at your site and I see the duplicate image. The slideshow on the home page of Structure is designed to pull the latest images from whatever posts appear on the home page. You could hide the whole homepage posts section like this:

If you are talking about the dark bar right above the comment, this will get rid of it.

Actually I should have scrolled down. This gets rid of the two black border lines above and below the top section.

@mguillen0, note that you shouldn’t copy and paste the entire original CSS, just add a few CSS rules for the stuff you want to change. For more info, see http://en.support.wordpress.com/editing-css/#maintaining-your-custom-header

Which lines then are you talking about? That code takes the lines off above and below the image and “graphic artist” text.
