Access to my other (real) WordPress site

  • Unknown's avatar

Hello, I have lost touch with the person that created my WordPress site for me. I need to gain access to it but I don’t know what email account (or username) was used to setup the site. The URL to my ‘real’ WordPress site is ‘https://braziliankeratintreatmenthamilton.wordpress.com’. I am not very technical and have a new webmaster that will help me but I need the login credentials. I don’t have any of the 3 things you ask for (Paypal Transaction ID, Activation URL or Key or Two-factor Authentication Codes) since I didn’t buy any upgrades and I wasn’t the person to set up the site initially. This is a serious issue for me since there is a very incorrect price for a service we perform showing on this site that I need to update asap. I am the sole owner of the business related to the site which I am happy to verify for you. Just let me know what I have to do. You can have a look at our main website at http://www.studiowesthairdesign.ca if that helps.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi, how are you?

Unfortunately you have to fill an Account Recovery Form, for more information, please check the link below:

    Recover Your Account

    Regards.

Hello, thank you for the quick reply but, I am unable to use that form since it will not allow me to submit it without at least 1 of the 3 pieces of information which I don’t have (Paypal Transaction ID, Activation URL or Key or Two-factor Authentication Codes).

    Thanks

In this case, I’ll tag this thread for the staff help you.

  • Hi there,

If you aren’t able to provide an email from the email address with which the blog was registered, a PayPal transaction ID, or the original activation link, I’m afraid we won’t be able to help you recover the account.

In order to regain access to your account, the best bet is to try to somehow contact the current owner (which sounds like the webmaster) to see if they are willing to transfer ownership over to you

    https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword

I can e-mail the address associated with the account for you, if that would help.

We have a strict policy in place to protect our users from third parties who might try to use our support system to gain access to other users’ accounts.

Let me know if you have any other questions

    Thanks,

Yes, please! If you can attempt to email the address associated with the account, that would be great.

    Thanks

  • Hey there,

I have contacted the email on file in regards to you accessing the site. I will let you know when I hear back.

    Thank you!

In the event that the original email account is not longer in use, what is the next step? I was able to get in touch with the person that created my WordPress site for me via Facebook and she says the following:

“I don’t have that email anymore. It was the business email. When I closed the business I cancelled everything.”

So, unless she used one of my various email accounts to setup the site, which I don’t think is the case, how do we handle this?

    Thanks for the quick replies.

Perhaps you can consider comparing the information on my WordPress site to that on my own website and also give weight to the fact that we were authenticated by Google in order to achieve our Google My Business listing.

I can also supply proof in various formats that I am the legitimate owner of the business in question here.

  • Hey there,

Unfortunately, the only three forms of proof we accept is on our support page:

    Recover Your Account

Can the person who created the blog still log in? As long as they remember the password, they can log in with either the username or e-mail address and post in this thread to confirm ownership, or they can transfer ownership of the blog over to you. They won’t need access to the e-mail account as long as they remember the password.

Let me know if that is possible. Thanks!

staff-doublebassd – No, the person who created the blog can not log in, that is entire basis of our problem here. I will repeat some key bits of information about my situation in order provide maximum clarity:

    1) The person that created the site does not recall what email address they used nor the password.
    2) The email that was most likely used to create the site is no longer in use so, we are unable to trigger a password reminder or reset.
    3) No Paypal transaction ID can be provided in order to authenticate our request since we never made any purchase, upgrade, etc.
    4) We are unable to obtain an Activation URL from the creator of the blog and she no longer has access to the email account that was most likely used to create it.
    5) We don’t believe 2 factor was ever enabled.
    6) It is quite obvious that we are the business being represented by the blog. I can provide any number of other pieces of proof and evidence to verify this.

The most urgent matter for us is that there is a price being displayed on the blog for a particular service that is incorrect by a very large amount. Customers are seeing the blog, then contacting us for the service and are extremely upset when they learn the actual cost.

One way or the other, I need this issue resolved right away.

I’ve been very patient and done my best to address this the “WordPress” way. However, if this approach doesn’t produce a result in short order I have no option but to escalate this by any means necessary since it is having a serious impact, financially and in term of reputation, on my business and me personally.

I respectfully request this matter be given full attention by someone empowered to assist me with fully resolving this in short order.

The first thing that would be helpful is to advise what email address is associated with this blog account so I can see if it’s still active.

    Thank you.

  • Hi Nivia,

I understand your frustration. We do not accept any other forms of proof other than the three I have provided. Also, I cannot divulge and any information about the account, including the email without proof of ownership.

However, I am fully empowered to assist you in this matter. What I would be happy to do is set the site to private indefinitely. Setting the site to private will prevent anyone from seeing the site and search engines will no longer index the site. Therefore, you’ll be able to continue to look for the login credentials (if you decide) without worrying about people ever seeing the outdated pricing.

Let me know if you would like for me to set the site to private and I’ll do so ASAP.

    Thank you!
