Access to pages via links
-
When I click on the links on my homepage, it asks for a wordpress log in. I’d like the links to work so that when a visitor clicks on them, they are taken to that page. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong! Thanks

Hi there,
It looks like something was set incorrectly when the links were created on the home page.
For example, the link to Cub Scouts is
https://wordpress.com/page/cherhillscouts.wordpress.com/79when the correct page looks like
I would suggest editing the home page and regenerating the links.
Hopefully, that helps :)
If not, please post a follow-up and we’ll see what else can be done.
Cheers,

Hi there,
To explain a bit more what’s going on here:
The links you’ve added to your front page are links to the editor for those pages, rather than links for the pages themselves. Editor links can only be used by a logged-in admin on the page.
For any link you want your visitors to be able to click, you need to use the public permalink of the page you’re linking to. You can get that inside the editor from the Permalinks section in the editor sidebar:
@ericfri, just to clarify, those links weren’t generated on the front page by any automated process. If those links are on the front page, it’s because the OP added them there by copy-pasting them in :) -

Thanks for clearing that up. That was was I suspected, but I didn’t recognize the links so I wasn’t sure.

Thanks all, I think I’ve fixed that now! Thank you so much for your help, I’m learning as I go :)
